On January 4th at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Toyota introduced a pioneering new concept vehicle that underscores the company’s conviction that vehicles of the future must adapt to the people that use them. The Concept-I was developed with a clear focus on providing users with an welcoming and immersive experience.

Toyota’s CALTY Design Research Center in Newport Beach designed the Concept-i, which incorporates user experience technology development from Toyota’s Innovation Hub in San Francisco, to feature powerful artificial intelligence that anticipates the driver’s needs and creates a relationship that extends beyond simply learning driving patterns and schedules.
The Concept-i will monitor geographic location and road conditions as sensors measure the driver’s emotions and attention, permitting the car to fine-tune the level of autonomous intervention as it’s required. A next-generation interface that has been given the nickname of “Yui” will display appropriate messages on the interior and exterior, when and where they’re needed.
Toyota thinks that the future of automated or connected mobility is founded on the experience of the people who engage with the vehicles. That’s why their efforts are being directed to developing a vehicle that engages with people in return.
