Lexus invented the luxury SUV segment nearly twenty years ago with the original 300 and has long held a leadership position in the category. The new 2016 RX350 marks the fourth generation of the popular crossover, and this year the Lexus design team has taken a more aggressive styling approach to good effect, says Tom Voelk, auto critic for The New York Times in a recent review. The previous RX350 design was known as "L-Finesse" within the manufacturer. Voelk suggests the new design might be better referenced as "L-Intense. The new RX is sold with a 3.5-liter V6 (the RX 350) and a hybrid powertrain (the RX 450h). The fourth generation is longer by nearly five inches; the cabin is a bit wider. The F Sport model tested has an even more aggressive look, adaptive suspension and bolstered sport seats.
